You are considered a close contact if you are within 6 feet of someone infected with COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes over a 24 hour period. An infected person can spread COVID-19 48 hours before they have symptoms.
I’m a close contact and I don’t have symptoms. What should I do?
If you are a close contact and you don’t have symptoms, you will need to quarantine. Quarantine means staying home and away from others while you monitor for symptoms.
If you received your COVID-19 vaccine booster dose OR 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the past 6 months OR 1 dose of the J&J vaccine within the past 2 months:
• Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
• Get a test on day 5. Click here to find a testing location near you.
+ If you develop symptoms, stay home and follow the guidance outlined in our Toolkit for Positive Cases.
